While most Survivor contestants have earned fame from appearing on the series, a few were already well known by audiences due to careers in Hollywood or professional sports. Which contestants were already famous before they competed on CBS's number one reality show? Find out below:

Gary Hogeboom, Survivor: GuatemalaAlthough he told his tribemates he was a landscaper named Gary Hawkins, Gary Hogeboom played for the NFL for 11 years a fact that he tried to keep hidden from his tribemates in order to go deeper into the game. Hogeboom was best known as a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. He is best known for starring in The Last Supper, and the TV series Rude Awakening and The Naked Truth. most of the other 'celebrity' contestants, Penner was not recognized by his tribemates.

Ashley Massaro, Survivor: ChinaProfessional model Ashley Massaro was crowned the winner of Raw's Diva Search 2005 and became a World [url=http://www.raidersnflofficialauthentic.com/authentic-gabe-jackson-jersey.ht... Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Diva as a result. She also appeared in Playboy in April 2007, just a few months before leaving to film Survivor: China. Although she was immediately recognized (and openly told her tribe members that she was a professional wrestler), Massaro was not voted out due to her fame; rather, she had a personality clash with fellow castaway Dave Cruser, and became ill in the first few days of the show.

Jean Robert Bellande, Survivor: ChinaKnown as one of the "Bad Boys of Poker," Jean Robert Bellande first gained exposure when he competed in the World Series of Poker event in 2005. In poker, he is known for his aggressiveness and trash talking; on Survivor, Bellande was known for an ongoing conflict with tribemate Courtney Yates, a New York City waitress who was also a major trash talker.

Tamara "Taj" Johnson George, Survivor: TocantinsTaj Johnson George is a member of the pop/R trio Sisters with Voices. In addition, her husband is NFL player and Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George. Prior to appearing on Survivor: Tocantins, Johnson George and her husband appeared on the reality show I Married a Baller. Because she didn't need to compete on Survivor for the money, she claimed that she would have donated the million dollars to her charity, if she had won the game.

Jimmy Johnson, Survivor: NicaraguaThe biggest celebrity ever to appear on Survivor was Survivor: Nicaragua's Jimmy Johnson, a former NCAA and NFL coach and current sports broadcaster. Johnson is a huge fan of the show who had applied in the past but was turned down for medical reasons. He almost appeared on Survivor: Gabon, but doctors found that his arteries were blocked.

After undergoing surgery and turning his life around, Johnson re applied and was accepted for Survivor: Nicaragua. He was the season's oldest contestant, at 67, and the second oldest contestant ever to appear on the series.

Of these celebrities, Jonathan Penner is the only one to be invited back to compete in one of the All [url=http://www.raidersnflofficialauthentic.com/authentic-gabe-jackson-jersey.ht... Star seasons. Penner competed on Survivor: Micronesia, but was evacuated from the game due to a knee injury. Read more about Survivor contestants who left the game for medical reasons.
