Located 35km from Suzhou City, Jinxi is a less visited yet very beautiful water township China tourism with a history of over a thousand years. The old town has been well preserved and many buildings still remain that were built in Ming and Qing dynasties. The man-made sceneries, such as Wenchang Pavilion, Lotus Pool Temple, together with the ancient bridges and alleyways present an elegant relaxing image of this ideal travel destination. A pleasant boat cruise on the lake will give you a panorama of the town.

It seems that nothing has changed over the years since Shen's visit during Suzhou tour. Jinxi water town is still less developed in terms of catering towards tourists, compared with its counterparts located across the province. The only highlight for entertainment is a hostel and tea house run by a young couple who moved to Jinxi for its romantic charm. Legend has it that a favorite concubine of one of the emperors of the Song dynasty resided here during her last days, and was buried in the lake in Jinxi after she died. The emperor traveled to Jinxi to grieve for her, and built her a stone tomb in the center of the lake. The tombstone is still visible today and is considered by tourists as a symbol of love.

Walking on the clear quartzite street, without trace of dust or fallen leaves. In the distance, I could hear vague sound of guitar. Coming near, there is a young man sitting on the bridge, playing and singing a slow song. Feels perfect with the atmosphere. Adults chatting under tall trees with nice shade, children playing beside the stream, everyone is at ease under Suzhou Tour Guide. Local people do a great work protecting the environment of the town. Everyday before the sunrise, civil cleaning workers already start working.
