Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Prince Fielder completely crushed a Felipe Paulino fastball deep into the right-field seats in the 14th inning, and the two-run homer gave the Brewers a memorable 7-6 victory over the Rockies. The opener of the only non-interleague series in baseball this weekend was a seesaw battle that was appropriately decided in the final at-bat. Casey McGehees eighth-inning solo homer off Rafael Betancourt helped send the game to extra innings, and terrific defense on both sides kept the game tied, 4-4, until Seth Smith tripled home Alfredo Amezaga in the top of the 13th. Yuniesky Betancourt answered in the bottom half by sending Huston Streets second pitch down the left-field line and over the wall. Betancourt, though, booted a routine-double play ball the next inning, and the extended frame resulted in Dexter Fowler blooping a single to left that plated Chris Iannetta with the go-ahead run. Mike McClendon (1-0) kept it a one-run game by stranding two, and the heart of Milwaukees lineup came through in the final at-bat. With one out, Paulino (0-4) issued a five-pitch walk to Ryan Braun, then made a game-ending mistake to Fielder, a down-and-in fastball that quickly left the yard and ended in the Brewers celebrating at home plate with their sixth win in eight games.
