DENVER -- Jordan Zimmermann is accustomed to pitching in tight games. He showed he can work with a big lead, too. Zimmermann pitched seven strong innings, Ryan Zimmerman and Tyler Moore both homered for the second straight game and the Washington Nationals beat the Colorado Rockies 11-5 on Wednesday night. Moore finished with three hits, Ian Desmond also went deep and Bryce Harper had two hits for the Nationals, who had another big outburst at the plate. Washington scored nine runs once in its first 71 games before accomplishing the feat on consecutive nights at Coors Field. Zimmermann (4-6) was the latest beneficiary, and it was a welcome change for the right-hander. He entered the game with a 2.89 ERA but the Nationals averaged just 3.1 runs when he is on the mound, the fifth lowest in the NL. "We finally put the no-runs-scored-behind-Jordan behind us," Desmond said. "We scored a bunch of runs for him and got the W." Marco Scutaro had two hits and two RBIs for Colorado, which matched the Nationals with 14 hits but lost for the 16th time in 20 games. The Nationals battered Rockies pitching again, one day after setting club marks for hits and extra-base hits since moving to Washington. They roughed up starter Edwar Cabrera, who was making his major league debut after getting called up from Double-A. "I was a little bit nervous in the first inning," he said. "They are really good hitters here in the big leagues, really good mentality, really good approach." Washington wasted no time introducing the 24-year-old to the majors. Moore hit a two-run homer as part of a three-run second inning, and Zimmerman and Desmond hit solo shots in the third when the Nationals tacked on four more to make it 8-0. Moore now has four multihit games since being recalled from Triple-A on June 7. "Im completely see ball, hit ball," Moore said. "Im not up trying to think about curveball or anything like that. Dumb it down for me Ill be at my best." The offensive was enough for Zimmermann, who picked up his first win since May 22. The Nationals hard-luck pitcher made the most of his run support, allowing eight hits while walking three and striking out one over seven innings. His only rough patch was giving up four hits in the third, but a double play -- one of four he induced -- limited the damage to one run. "He made quality pitches when he had to and had a strong game," manager Davey Johnson said. "This is a tough ballpark to pitch in, and to hold them to one run is an outstanding effort." He has pitched at least six innings in all 15 starts this season. "I just want to go seven, eight innings every time out and limit the runs," Zimmermann said. Cabrera (0-1) allowed seven runs, five earned, and seven hits. He gave up three home runs in 2 1-3 innings and left after walking Mark DeRosa, who scored on Jhonatan Solanos two-run double off reliever Matt Reynolds. "I dont think he was overwhelmed at all by the aura of the major leagues," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "He might have been a little too ramped up, and when you get too ramped up with the type of pitcher that he is then you overthrow the ball. Theres a loss of command that takes place. Thats exactly what he dealt with tonight." Zimmerman had an RBI double in the fourth to make it 9-1, and an RBI double by Desmond and a sacrifice fly by DeRosa made it 11-1 in the seventh. Colorado scored four runs off the Washington bullpen. NOTES: The Rockies optioned RHP Zach Putnam to Triple-A to make room for Cabrera. ... Colorado co-pitching coach Bo McLaughlin joined the team and was on the bench for the game. ... Rockies general manager Dan ODowd said on a conference call that LHP Jorge De La Rosa, who has been out since last June after Tommy John surgery, will be shut down until September and might not pitch for the Rockies this year. ... The Nationals will send RHP Edwin Jackson (4-4) to the mound in the finale of the four-game series. Josh Outman (0-3) pitches for the Rockies. Cheap NFL Jerseys . Wilson really wanted to pitch against the Texas Rangers, so much so that he became the first major leaguer since 2002 to start consecutive games. After the rain-interrupted series opener when he faced only five batters against his former team, Wilson worked into the sixth inning Saturday to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-2 win over Texas. "I did a lot of homework and stuff, and wanted to put it to use," said Wilson, insisting that it wasnt personal facing the team he pitched for in the last two World Series. "Emotionally, I had a dry run (Friday) to see what it was going to feel like and hear the fans and their colorful insights on me, and my career and whatnot," he said. "Im just trying to get the hitters out." Wilson was gone before Kendrys Morales had a pinch-hit, tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the seventh. David Carpenter (1-1) faced only two batters after replacing Wilson with two outs in the sixth. Ernesto Frieri, acquired from San Diego on May 3, worked 1 2-3 innings and Scott Downs got the final out for his third save. But it was Wilson who really saved them. "It was a great bounce-back win. A long night last night, you cant say enough for what C.J. did," manager Mike Scioscia said. "Sometimes it sounds simple, but you have to go out there and pitch and execute. ... He pitched his heart out getting that deep into the game against a lineup that is really hitting the ball well." Josh Hamilton hit his majors-leading 18th homer -- the ninth in six games for the Rangers slugger. That solo blast in the sixth tied the game at 2 after he had already struck out twice against Wilson. "C.J. did a good job. Hes one of those guys you dont know what hes going to throw," Hamilton said. "He really doesnt follow any kind of pattern or get into a routine." Hamilton, who hit two homers Friday night after a four-homer game Tuesday in Baltimore, leads the majors with a .402 batting average, 18 homers and 41 RBIs. The second game of the series was the earliest ever at the 18-year-old Rangers Ballpark. The 12:07 p.m. start came only 12 hours after Friday nights game ended. Mark Trumbo had a towering two-run homer for the Angels off Matt Harrison (4-3), who had five strikeouts and two walks in six-plus innings. After Trumbo walked and Howie Kendrick reached on a bunt single to chase Harrison, Peter Bourjos bunted for a hit to load the bases. Morales then hit a flyball to left for a 3-2 lead, John Hester had an infield single and Mike Trout added another sacc fly.dddddddddddd In his return to Texas, Wilson threw only 22 pitches Friday night before a one-hour, 56-minute rain delay in the first inning of the Rangers 10-3 victory. The left-hander was charged with four runs after allowing three infield singles and a walk, but didnt return once the rain stopped. "It was difficult, but being a reliever for so long, I guess you develop a sort of I-have-to-pitch-tomorrow routine," Wilson said. "I guess I did enough convincing in Mikes office last night." Wilson, who signed as a free agent last winter with his hometown Angels, walked his first two batters Saturday before Hamilton struck out and Adrian Beltre hit into a double play. "Outstanding performance, especially considering what he had to deal with coming back on zero days rest," Trumbo said. "He kept us in the game and allowed us to get where we are now." Wilson bounced an 0-2 pitch with two outs in the fifth that hit Napoli, the catcher whose phone number Wilson put on Twitter as a prank during spring training. Brandon Snyder and Craig Gentry followed with consecutive singles to cut the gap to 2-1. Wilson struck out four and walked three, while allowing two runs and five hits on 93 pitches in 5 2-3 innings. The last major leaguer to start consecutive games was Aaron Myette for Texas on Sept. 3 and 4, 2002, at Baltimore. Myette was ejected from the first game after only two pitches. It was the first time an Angels pitcher started back-to-back games. In the fourth, Trumbo pulled a 420-foot blast off the facade of the second deck of seats in left field. His fifth homer came after Torii Hunter drew a two-out walk. Notes: Trumbo played 1B while Albert Pujols was the DH. It was the second Saturday in a row Trumbo homered while playing 1B. Pujols was 1 for 3 with a walk. He is hitting .195 in his 33 games in Los Angeles, with one homer and 11 RBIs. ... Rangers SS Elvis Andrus was called out twice on close plays at first base.
