BRATISLAVA, Slovakia -- Vladimir Vujtek will be the coach of Slovakias national hockey team. The 64-year-old Vujtek is the first Czech to coach the team and the second foreigner. Canadas Glen Hanlon was fired after the teams poor performance at the ice hockey world championship earlier this year. The Slovak Ice Hockey Federation says Vujtek has a contract through the end of 2012, but it will be extended through 2014 if Slovakia qualifies for Sochi Olympics. Vujtek has never coached a national team. In 2002 and 2003, he won Russias KHL with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. He was also in charge of another Russian club, Bars Kazan, and several Czech clubs. Gulbis served eight aces but could not overcome Verdasco, who picked up his game in the third set. [url=http://www.officialdetroittigersstore.com/Willie-Horton-Jersey/]http://www.... . Lucic, a second-round choice in 2006, is a Vancouver native and was a key part of Bostons 2011 Stanley Cup victory over the Canucks. He had five goals and seven assists in that championship run. "I have spent five great years here in Boston and Ive really embraced the city and the Boston Bruins, and they have embraced me," he said in a conference call. Overcoming age and injuries to make it to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals against the more-heralded Miami Heat, the Celtics bowed out of the playoffs on Saturday night with a 101-88 loss that likely ended the new Big Three era in Boston. Mendes (11-1), who has never been submitted, is coming off a loss to featherweight champion Jose Aldo.IRVING, Texas -- Dallas defensive co-ordinator Rob Ryan doesnt pretend to ignore that the Cowboys are playing Cleveland for the first time since the Browns dumped him when they fired Eric Mangini two years ago. Even when hes pretending. "Honestly, Im going to say no," Ryan said when asked if he had discussed this weeks personal motivation with his players. "Honestly, I havent talked about it. Honestly, I dont know how that got out there." How about dishonestly? "Ive addressed a few things," said Ryan, the twin brother of New York Jets coach Rex Ryan. Ryan says Sundays game at Cowboys Stadium is personal for a pretty simple reason. He didnt think two years was enough to try to turn a franchise that has now missed the playoffs nine straight years and reached the post-season just twice since 1990. To him, it doesnt really matter that Clevelands ownership and front office changed in midseason, and that more changes are likely in the off-season. "Anytime you pour everything you have into it and apparently management didnt see it as it was good enough, of course its personal," Ryan said. Ryans animosity doesnt extend to his former players, though. He sounds like he wouldnt mind having some of them still on his side, particularly defensive backs T.J. Ward, Sheldon Brown and Joe Haden in a secondary that has Cleveland ranked sixth in the league with 10 interceptions. "These are some of the best people I ever coached, so I stiill love those guys," Ryan said.dddddddddddd "But I plan on beating them." Ryans first year in Dallas after the Cleveland firing was a little rough. The Cowboys had one of the worst pass defences in franchise history and rarely made big plays when they needed them late in the year. Two late-season losses to the New York Giants essentially kept Dallas out of the playoffs, and the Cowboys didnt sack Eli Manning once in 47 pass attempts in the first game. Thats not exactly what Dallas had in mind when Ryan brought an attacking style to go with his boisterous and demonstrative sideline behaviour, but this year has been better. The Cowboys harassed Manning and held him to 190 passing yards despite losing 29-24 in the first game after defensive leader Sean Lee was lost to a season-ending toe injury. Dallas held Atlanta, unbeaten at the time, to 19 points in another close loss before the defence scored twice in the fourth quarter of last weeks win over Philadelphia. "Weve been playing pretty well the last few weeks," Ryan said. "I think were hitting it at the right time. I think our guys are starting to go after it." Ryan has cut his hair and the size of his waistline since he was in Cleveland, but the Browns will probably be able to recognize him. "He was a hoot," Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas said. "Hes really funny and hes a great defensive co-ordinator." Ryan will be out to prove it Sunday. ' ' '
