A young Frenchwoman [url=http://www.chargersrookiestore.com/Chargers-Kellen-Winslow-Jersey/]http://w... , as was later on diagnosed, was suffering an appendicitis attack in Afghanistan which I witnessed to be the most alarming medical situation in all of my travels. She was in terrible agony while unfortunately, the bus that she was on got stranded in the middle of an empty desert. In instances like these, there is no proper medical care available in the area but still, the number of Americans who love to visit remote places in the world still increase.

A lot of Afghans were in the bus that broke down in the middle of nowhere just a few hours out of Kandahar. I could tell that the woman's friend who approached me, a westerner, was worried and confused. Her friend was in the back seat stretched out and was in terrible pain. To make her friend feel a little better under the scorching weather, they placed a wet handkerchief on her forehead.

After a few hours of waiting, passengers immediately hitched when they saw a truck passed even if it wasn't headed towards near Kabul. The Frenchwoman was in so much pain that she cried terribly, well enough, a sturdy European sedan stopped by. A young Swiss couple was inside who immediately agreed to take the two French travelers to Kabul. After a few moments of waiting, another bus came which was able to accommodate us, including I and the remaining passengers. The next day, the Frenchwoman's companion tracked me down in my hotel to thank me. An instant appendectomy was needed to be performed on her friend, which is why after they called the French Embassy for help, the embassy led them to a hospital. After some time, the friend was okay but still was chastened by the close call.

Travelers are still faced with risky road conditions but the Maryland based association for safe international road travel in 60 foreign countries will be able to help them. Every country has a different way of reporting about livestock on the roads, accident prone roads, dangers of driving at night and bizarre driving practices. The lack of safety standards is the reason why car and bus rentals are chancier.

The death of a 25 year old Bethesda medical student who was killed in a bus accident in Turkey inspired the buildup of the association. The countries Egypt, Kenya, South Korea, Turkey and Morocco have the most accident prone roads according to the non-profit organization accident statistics. Statistics is not provided by India but it might be on the list. Due to the association's persistency, the US State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs now includes road hazard information to the consular info sheets it prepares for each country. Considering having a health insurance and a medical evacuation policy would be of a good thing. The US Embassy can help you find medical care if you become ill or are injured but payment is up to you. Evacuating you by air from a remote area to an emergency hospital can cost thousands of dollars. At the very least, before you travel outside the country, the State Department said that you should first carry a claim form and an insurance policy identity card and also know what kind of medical services your health insurance covers.

The Social Security Medicare is not subsidizing the treatment expenses of senior citizens if they are treated outside the country but the American Association of Retired Persons is capable of covering the expenses. On an annual or per trip basis, a few firms offer medical evacuation insurance. The company sells insurance as well as its travel agents.

Call the nearest US Embassy if worst happens. Medical facilities and a list of local doctors are the two things which the embassy could provide you with. But most likely, embassy personnel make it a point that Americans get the best medical care by taking steps. This is likely to happen in places which are very far from the city where most Americans love going to. To ensure that the victim receives proper treatment in a better facility and that hisher family and friends will be contacted, the officials take care of these victims even in a foreign hospital.

NAIROBI, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's electoral poll senior manager in charge of ICT who has been missing since Friday evening was found dead in Nairobi on Monday.

Police said the body of Chris Musando, deputy ICT director of Independence Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) and that of an unidentified woman were found in Kiambu County (within the Nairobi metropolitan region) and taken to a city morgue.

The police had earlier ruled out foul play after his vehicle was found parked in Roysambu, Nairobi. Musando was one of the few people with knowledge on the location of IEBC servers.

His death comes after he had reported to the police about death threats on him by unknown person.

The electoral body said on Sunday that the last communication the commission received from Chris Musando is an SMS text sent to his colleagues at around 3 am on Saturday morning.

"The content of the text suggests that he was conscious and fully aware of its itinerary for that day," IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said on Sunday.

Musando was one of the few staff at the commission with knowledge of where the ICT servers are kept. The family reported the matter to the police saying they could not trace him since Saturday dawn.

The incident is a big blow to IEBC as Musando was to lead a dry run program on Monday to demonstrate how transmission of results would be done. It also comes a week to the elections.

The electoral body has since put off the dry run of results transmission system following the su.
