Is Gagner a third line right winger with Loui Eriksson and Brandon Sutter, or does he play the middle on the fourth line and get power play time as a right shot addition? Does Nikolay Goldobin play the right side on the third line and can Jake Virtanen stick as a fourth line winger?

And if Brendan Gaunce is your fourth line left winger, what becomes of Anton Rodin, Reid Boucher, Michael Chaput and Jayson Megna?

"It's important to have guys push each other and to have that accountability in the group," said Green. "You do like to have versatility and I like guys (Gagner) who can play all three positions because if you don't like your team on a given night, you can change it."
