San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez and main man Robert Bolick were completely confident that their team can still win even as they served their one-game suspensions on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
The Red Lions did not let them down, making quick work of Mapua University, 88-70, for their ninth consecutive victory in the 93rd Season of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Fernandez, Bolick, and rising star Clint Doliguez were not in the venue as part of the league’s disciplinary [url=http://www.authenticnikeredskinshop.com/clinton-portis-jersey-for-sale-c-6.... action for their involvement in San Beda’s flareup with Mapua University last Tuesday.
Calling the shots was first lieutenant JB Sison who executed the game plan to a tee as the defending champions forced 16 turnovers and quickly converted them into 18 points. “I’m happy with the way we played despite the absence of our two best players. What was noticeable was everybody stepped up,” team manager Jude Roque said post-game.
With each new UAAP season comes a new batch of stars – whether they are incoming rookies who immediately make their mark, or sophomores or juniors who will make a leap to the elite level.
Season 80 is expected to produce these stars anew, especially after several of last year's top players – from De La Salle University's Jeron Teng to National University's Alfred Aroga, and Far Eastern University's Raymar Jose – have moved on in [url=http://www.authenticbostonredsox.com/Brock-Holt-Jersey]http://www.authentic... their careers.
Below is a list of players who may not necessarily be the best in their respective squads, but are expected to make a massive impact for their team in the upcoming men's basketball tournament.
AC Soberano also chose the most opportune time to bust out as his 17 points topped his team in scoring.
Javee Mocon then provided his usual double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds this time around.
Still, the Cardinals were hanging around, only down by nine after three quarters until San Beda put the game away once and for all with a 30-point final frame.
In all, a total of six players contributed at least eight points for Sison. “I’m happy [url=http://www.authenticbostonredsox.com/Carlton-Fisk-Jersey]Carlton Fisk Authentic Jersey
that we didn’t look for a go-to-guy today. Everybody was able to score,” Roque said.
That was just exactly what Bolick foresaw when he said last Tuesday, “Our team is good from the starting five to the last player. I have full belief in our team.”
Even without three key cogs, the defending champions kept their winning streak intact and kept their place just right behind first-running and undefeated Lyceum of the Philippines University. “We made it a rallying point for the guys who aren’t here. We dedicated the game to them,” Roque said.
Fernandez, Bolick, and Doliguez will be back in action when the Red Lions [img]http://www.texansonlineofficialstore.com/images/products/nike_nfl_jerseys/n... take on San Sebastian College-Recoletos a week from now.
For Mapua, Leo Gabo showed the way with 17 points.
Unable to take advantage of their undermanned opponents, however, they suffered their ninth straight setback and now stand at 1-10.
