Even through the mist that smothered Camden Yards, it was easy to see the Yankees dominate the Orioles in the first post Authentic Bob Gibson Womens Jersey Memorial Day game of a season that no longer can be considered young.
With Brett Gardner and Matt Holliday flexing muscles and Luis Severino turning in a second straight solid start, the Yankees topped the Orioles 8-3 Tuesday evening in front of a quaint crowd of 16,126.
Gardner and Holliday homered twice and Aaron Judge added a two-run double to support Severino.
The victory hiked the Yankees’ record to 30-19 and put them in position to take http://www.... two of three from the reeling Orioles (26-24) who have lost eight of nine and looked awful on the mound, at the plate and in the field.
After 49 games the Yankees are five shy of the season’s one-third mark and sit atop the AL East.
Gardner homered off O’s starter Chris Tillman to start the game and Logan Verrett in the fourth. Holliday got Tillman in the first and third. Gardner and Holliday each have 11 homers.

Severino improved to 4-2 with a second straight victory. Even in the sixth when the Orioles scored the only run they did it on three infield singles and a walk.
In 6 1/? innings Severino gave up a run, seven hits (all singles), threw 100 pitches and struck out eight.
Slumping Orioles third baseman Manny Machado struck out four times and Severino got him in the first, third and sixth innings. Machado started the game 4-for-11 with three homers against Severino. The AL Player of the Month in April when he batted .344, Machado has fallen to .210 overall after going 0-for-5.
Tillman (1-2) was punished for five runs and seven hits in 2 2/? innings.
Severino labeled his previous outing as his best as a big leaguer and it was impressive since he fired eight shutout innings against the Royals on May 24 at Yankee Stadium and allowed four hits.
Through five frames Severino blanked the Orioles, retired all three batters he faced with a runner in scoring position and allowed four singles.
The five blanks extended Severino’s shutout streak to 17 innings.
Tillman was 8-6 with a 4.63 ERA in 19 career starts against the Yankees, so he wasn’t awful versus them when he took the mound. But less than three innings later he vanished having allowed five runs and seven hits. Gardner set the tone by crushing a 2-0 pitch from Tillman over the right-field scoreboard. Two batters later, Holliday drove a 1-0 pitch into the left-field seats for a 2-0 lead.
Didi Gregorius opened the second frame with a double to right and scored on Aaron Hicks’ single to center for a 3-0 cushion that swelled to 5-0 in the third when Holliday led off with a homer to left and Chase Headley’s single plated Judge.
Three more runs in the fourth hiked the Yankees lead to 8-0. Gardner opened with a homer to right and Judge added a two-run double.
