The Horton Brothers Biography

The Horton Brothers Biography

Texas natives, brothers Bobby and Billy Horton, formed the Horton Brothers in the mid-'90s as a showcase for there brand of '50s-influenced Western swing. Drawing favorable comparisons to the likes of the Louvin Brothers, the Everly Brothers, Bob Wills, and others, the Horton Brothers vintage sound sparked wide spread interest amongst the roots rock community culminating in an appearance at the 1998 Hembsy Festival in England. After deciding on Austin as their home base in the late '90s, the brothers released Roll Back the Rug, It's... on Texas Jamboree Records in 1999. Heave Ho followed in 2000. Having achieved such a pure retro sound on record, other artists sought out the Horton Brothers to work on their albums. Utilizing vintage recording equipment at their Fort Horton Studio and a "live-in-one-take" approach, the brothers Horton produced such similarly Ike-era inclined artists as Nick Curran and Cave Catt Sammy.
