Jairus Byrd unhappy with Bills

Jairus Byrd is one of the NFL best safeties, and he wants to be paid like one.

Byrd and the Bills have reached an impasse as it pertains to contract negotiations. According to the Associated Press, the Bills offered a lucative deal, but Byrd turned them down.

person said, Buffalo offered a multiyear contract that would have paid Byrd about $30 million over the first three seasons. The full value and length of the Bills offer were not revealed.

The NFL top paid safety is Kansas City Eric Berry. Berry signed a six year, $50.04 million contract in 2010. Whereas the Pittsburgh Steelers Troy Polamalu is the second highest paid safety after he signed a three year, $29.6 million in 2011. year, $40 million contract in 2011.

MORE: Bills free agency outlook

Depending on the length of the deal, the Bills offer [url=http://www.nflcardinalsofficialshop.com/John_Brown_Jersey_Cardinals]www.nfl... may have fell short of expectations.

Bills made Jairus Byrd an offer that would made him highest paid S for a portion of his deal. Was rejected. Team still wants to sign him

The Bills still have the option to place the franchise tag on Byrd in consecutive years. Byrd would cost the [url=http://www.nflcardinalsofficialshop.com/John_Brown_Jersey_Cardinals]http://... Bills $8.43 million in 2014 if they did so. Although, it unlikely the Bills go this route, according to the Bills Radio Network Joe Buscaglia.

Despite the distance between the two sides, a Byrd Bills reunion still isn out of the equation. The two sides will continue to negotiate well into free agency, which is set to start March 8.

What does Jairus Byrd want? What he feels is fair market value. Hitting the open market doesn rule out returning to Buffalo. All in play

If and when Byrd hits the open market, the Bills will have stiff competition for his services, particularly from the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns.

Eagles have $24mil in cap space, and if they cut Patrick Chung, just $500,000 committed to safety. If they want him, they get Byrd.
