LONDON -- Chelsea dropped its first points of the season in a 0-0 draw against local rival Queens Park Rangers, and the non-handshake between Anton Ferdinand and John Terry upstaged big home wins by Arsenal and Manchester United in the English Premier League on Saturday. Arsenals 6-1 thrashing of Southampton and a 4-0 victory for United over Wigan -- sparked by Paul Scholes goal in his 700th game for the club -- allowed both teams to leapfrog defending champion Manchester City, which was held to 1-1 at Stoke. A top four filled with the likely title contenders is led by Chelsea, whose perfect start to the campaign ended with the stalemate at QPR in a game overshadowed by Ferdinands snub of Terry in the pre-match handshake. It continued their feud following a racism row that began last season when Terry, the Chelsea and England defender, was accused of racially abusing Ferdinand in the corresponding match at Loftus Road. Terry was acquitted in court in July but awaits a Football Association charge relating to the same case, and feelings continue to run high. Ferdinand blanked both Terry and Ashley Cole, who gave evidence on behalf of his Chelsea teammate in the court case, in the team handshake while Terry was booed and jeered throughout by a hostile crowd. "Everybody focused on the football and of course there would be high emotion but both sets of players played very professionally," Chelsea manager Roberto di Matteo said. "As far as we are concerned, our players offered (their hands to Ferdinand) and if the other player doesnt want to receive it, then we move on." After three straight wins, Chelsea will not be too unhappy with a point after being stretched for long periods by a west London neighbour which has picked up only two points from four games this season. Park Ji-sung, who also refused to shake Terrys hand, headed a great chance straight at Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech before Bobby Zamora wasted another second-half opportunity after intercepting a dreadful back pass by John Obi Mikel. After dribbling around Cech, Zamoras shot was cleared off the line by Terry. "We acquitted ourselves really well," QPR manager Mark Hughes said. "We were assured and calm and we dictated to the European champions for long periods." Chelsea is a point clear of United, whose third straight victory came after four second-half goals at Old Trafford. The 37-year-old Scholes scored his 163rd goal for United to put the team ahead in the 51st minute before strikes by Javier Hernandez, Alexander Buttner and Nick Powell -- the last two scoring on their debuts -- in a 20-minute span. Hernandez missed a fifth-minute penalty in a sluggish first half for the hosts. "We had to start all over again after the missed penalty," Ferguson said. "They slowed the game down a lot, but we werent playing at the speed we play at. The second half we did after becoming more aggressive and played some penetrating football." Arsenal condemned last-place Southampton to a fourth successive loss with a masterful attacking display that could help fans forget about the departure of Robin van Persie, who was on the bench for United on Saturday ahead of the start of the Champions League next week. Gervinho, playing as a central striker instead of his usual place on the wing, scored twice while Arsenal was helped out by two own goals. Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott were the other scorers at Emirates Stadium. "We have a chance for the title but first we must show consistency," said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, whose team is a point behind United and level on eight with City. "We have the quality to do it but we have to show how much we can do it." City dropped points for the second time this season, needing a goal by debutant Javi Garcia in the 35th minute to cancel out a controversial early effort by Peter Crouch, who appeared to handle the ball in the buildup to his goal. "It was basketball, not football," City manager Roberto Mancini said. "I didnt see it at the time but now Ive seen a replay -- its incredible." Liverpool ended an emotional week following the release of new evidence about the Hillsborough tragedy in 1989 with a 1-1 draw at Sunderland, leaving the fallen English giants fourth from bottom and still without a win this season. Uruguay striker Luis Suarezs 71st-minute goal for Liverpool cancelled out the opener scored by Steven Fletcher, his third of the season. Flags flew at half mast for the match at the Stadium of Light in honour of the 96 fans who died 23 years ago in a crush at Hillsborough -- Britains worst sporting disaster -- while Liverpools players walked out wearing tracksuit tops with the number "96" on the backs. Dimitar Berbatov scored twice for Fulham in a 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, the Bulgarians first goals since joining from United on transfer deadline day, while Swansea lost 2-0 at Aston Villa following goals by Matthew Lowton and Christian Benteke. West Brom and Swansea were unbeaten and in the top four at the start of the day. Norwich and West Ham drew 0-0 in the other game. Cheap Jerseys . Valentine said Buchholz had gone to the hospital recently to deal with the problem and has not been with the team the past two days. Boston is planning to activate Aaron Cook from the 15-day DL to start Sunday against the Braves.INDIANAPOLIS -- Dan Wheldons biggest fans wanted one more chance to thank their favourite driver Monday. One-by-one they turned Indianapolis Motor Speedways main gate into a memorial for the two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, who was killed Sunday in a fiery crash at Las Vegas. Less than 24 hours later, the iron bars at IMS were decorated with flowers, notes of condolence, checkered flags, American and British flags and even half-gallon milk jugs, symbolic of the traditional victory drink at Indy. "Dan was special, he was a hero," said Nick Garside, a 37-year-old Indy resident who grew up in Wheldons home country of England. "We had a group of British fans who would get together the last nine years in the plaza and fly our flags. Dan made us happy on two occasions. He gave me two of the happiest days of my life and one of the saddest as well." It was Indy where the 33-year-old IndyCar driver had his greatest successes and the most devoted fan-base outside his native country. He won the Indianapolis 500 driving for Michael Andrettis team in 2005 and won it again in May for Bryan Hertas team -- in what was, at the time, his only scheduled race of the season. Along with being the 18th driver to win Indy twice, Wheldon also finished as the runner-up in 2009 and 2010 with Panther Racing and finished third in 2004. Fans loved him for more than winning races, though. "He was an amazing driver, an amazing father, an amazing person," said Paula Buis, a 41-year-old Indy resident who dropped off an American flag with flowers attached to it. "He smiled wide and he was always happy around everybody. My heart goes out to everybody who loves him." Track officials lowered the flags above the main office to half-staff, and later Monday afternoon, they hung a five-foot by 30-foot banner with Wheldon posing with Indys Borg-Warner trophy. Fans were honouring Wheldon long before the banner went up. One brought a pumpkin with the No. 77 carved into it, the number Wheldon was driving Sunday at Las Vegas. Another placed two green candles on a handwritten note, explaining that the candles represented his two Indy wins. Another added a childs drawing with a heart coloured in crayon with the words "We Love You!" The most poignant message: "To Dans children and their mommy, you are in our thoughtss and prayers.dddddddddddd" Garside hung a large Union Jack flag with the words "Brit Corner" emblazoned on the cross of St. George. It dominated the scene at the gate. "It feels better to have it here than in my garage," he said. Its not the first time a makeshift memorial has popped up around the speedway. Track historian Donald Davidson said the gate, which has remained in the same location at the corner of 16th Street and Georgetown Road for 102 years, has been the scene of too many other memorials over the years. But Wheldon, who lived several years full-time in nearby Carmel, Ind., had a special bond with the community. In 2010, Wheldon convinced three other drivers to fly from the track to Camp Atterbury, south of Indianapolis, in Blackhawk helicopters. At the time, he was driving the National Guard car. He had also become increasingly affiliated with talking about Alzheimers Disease, an affliction his mother was diagnosed with in 2009. And he was so enamoured with Indy, that track officials sometimes joked he was part of their public relations staff. "I dont remember a driver, any driver, at any time saying as much about the Indianapolis 500 as Dan did," Davidson said. "He was constantly talking it up." Yet Wheldon, who was a teammate of Alex Tagliani of Lachenaie, Que., remained a down-to-earth, fun-loving guy. After winning his second 500 earlier this year, speedway spokesman Doug Boles said he was walking behind the Pagoda where posters of each years four race winners are encased in glass. When Wheldon saw his photo during the Brickyard 400, he was shocked. "He said, Hey, thats me," Boles said. "It just really surprised him that a picture of him was up, and I had to take a picture of him pointing at the picture of himself. It was like he was 10 years old at Christmas." The steady stream of fans who turned out Monday wanted to see Wheldon win a third time. Instead, they came out to remember the drive they embraced one more time. Boles said the IndyCar Series is working out details for a public service that fans can attend. GoDaddy.com, which agreed to sponsor Wheldons car next year, has announced it will create a website with links to a Facebook page where fans can post thoughts and see a photo retrospective of Wheldons career. cheap jerseys from china ' ' '
