PITTSBURGH - His flair for the dramatic on draft day is well-established. But its evident heading into Fridays NHL draft at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh that Brian Burke and the Leafs can veer in a number of different directions with card in hand, each aimed at bolstering an organization yearning for its first playoff berth post-lockout. A heavy air of unpredictability surrounds the class of 2012 making any course of action rather unsteady at the moment. Burke has the fifth overall pick at his disposal, a selection he can wield in a variety of manners. Keep The Pick Burke said earlier this week in Las Vegas that hed be content to keep the fifth pick if a trade failed to materialize. Such a sentiment will likely hinge though on the progression of the four selections previous to the Leafs. If a player the organization covets happens to drop down further than expected Burke may choose to keep the pick. Or he could venture down the standard path and select the best available player, perhaps one of a number of strong defensive prospects, a thoroughbred such as Morgan Rielly or an all-around blueliner such as Griffin Reinhart, Mathew Dumba or Ryan Murray if he happened to fall that far. At the very least Burke will consider utilizing the pick to address an organizational need, an admitted first in his career. While he wouldnt go as far as to name that position outright, its a well-known fact that the organization lacks big, elite skill down the middle. If in the unlikely scenario, either Alex Galchenyuk or Filip Forsberg dropped to the Leafs at number five (unlikely, but possible), the prospect of addressing such a need would present itself. Trade Up or Down At last years draft Burke flipped the 30th and 39th selections for the right to select Tyler Biggs with the 22nd overall pick. The Leafs already hold the early first round ticket this summer, but could choose to move either up or down the ladder depending on the options available at number five. Much again will depend on how the opening picks shake out, an unpredictable formula with the draft drawing near. It may become clear early on that one of the Oilers, Blue Jackets, Canadiens or Islanders are content to move down, offering at least an opportunity to leap a few rungs to snatch whichever player the organization happens to covet most. If on the other hand, the player the organization desires is off the board and another similar player is certain to be available later on, Burke could opt to move down the ladder if ever so slightly. The class of 2012 isnt considered especially deep, making such a scenario a strong option for a number of teams including the Leafs. Trade Out For More Immediate Help Missing out on the playoffs for a seventh consecutive season this past spring, the Leafs could spring for a more immediate fix by dealing the fifth pick for proven talent. Burke and his management team have generally steered clear of weighty financial anchors and/or those players who have since lingered past their prime. If a deal is to be struck in this capacity - likely in some sort of package - it would likely have to match both criteria; a player with a solid contract in a suitable age bracket. A wildcard (think Roberto Luongo) always remains a possibility with a number of high-profile stars out there to be had. beats by dre . -- It was a classic case of hard work beating talent as the London Knights came out on top Saturday. beats by dre cheap .M. -- Former boxing champion Johnny Tapia died from heart disease and high blood pressure and not from a drug overdose, his widow said Wednesday. This is the first Ryder Cup without Ballesteros, who died in May 2011. He is considered the most influential figure in giving Europe its edge in the matches. Longtime friend Jose Maria Olazabal is the European captain. Olazabal revealed the tribute Tuesday duringg the team photo.dddddddddddd The bags have a silhouette that depicts Ballesteros reaction to winning the 1984 British Open at St. Andrews. The Spanish captain says he felt the emblem on the bag would allow Ballesteros to be with the European team "every step of the way." Ballesteros adopted the image as his business logo, and even had a tattoo of it on his left forearm. ' ' '
