MIAMI -- Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen wasnt sure how Ricky Nolasco pulled off this win. . Nolasco overcame nine hits in five innings as he snapped a five-game losing streak by allowing just two runs in a 7-3 win for the Miami Marlins over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. "I think Ricky was surrounded by Houdini because I dont know how he did it," Guillen said. "And David Copperfield tried to help him, too, because it was hard to watch." Nolasco (9-11) struck out Matt Kemp in the second inning to get out of a bases-loaded jam and induced two double-plays to prevent a big inning to earn his first victory since July 6 at St. Louis. "Its funny how the game goes," Nolasco said. "Sometimes you pitch well enough to win and you lose. Sometimes you have no business being in the game and you just find ways. I was just trying to find a way, limit the damage, and the offence came through to put up some big runs." Carlos Lee hit one of the Marlins season-high five doubles and drove in two runs to lead the Miami offensive attack. Lee is hitting .485 (16 for 33) with runners in scoring position since being acquired in a trade from the Astros on July 5 and has 25 RBIs during that time. "Carlos is an RBI machine," Guillen said. "Thats the reason why he made a lot of money over his career." Matt Kemp had three hits, stole two bases, and drove in a run for the Dodgers. Shane Victorino bounced into a fielders choice to drive in the Dodgers first run and Andre Ethiers RBI single gave Los Angeles a 2-0 lead. Dodgers starter Joe Blanton (8-10) allowed just one hit through four innings before running into trouble in the fifth. "He had a good mix of stuff going, but we stuck with it and continued to have good at-bats and made him pay when it counted," Miamis John Buck said. Miami overcame the two-run deficit in the pivotal inning when they scored four runs keyed by consecutive doubles from Donovan Solano, Nick Green, and Buck. Green and Buck drove in runs to tie game 2-all as the crowd of 27,681 erupted for the home squad. "Its awesome," Nolasco said. "This crowd is so much funner when were hitting and scoring runs. It gets so loud and the hitters feed off of it. We havent heard that in a while, but it was fun." Two batters later Gorkys Hernandez laid down a successful squeeze bunt, which gave the Marlins a 3-2 lead and Justin Ruggiano followed with an RBI single. "Started the fifth with a strikeout and then they hit two rollers right down the line that got through -- that started the inning," Blanton said. "I made one or two mistakes after that, it happened quick. It was kind of like, What just happened?" Blanton allowed four runs and six hits in five innings. He struck out three. "Hes rolling along, his pitch count is down and youre thinking hes got a chance to go deep," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "It seemed like he was doing what he wanted with the baseball and all of a sudden the switch got flipped and he couldnt keep them from hitting the ball hard. The whole game flipped right there." Lees double off the left-centre field wall against Brandon League in the eighth gave Miami a 6-2 cushion. Solanos base hit to right scored Lee. Kemps RBI groundout in the ninth capped the scoring. NOTES: United States womens beach volleyball Olympic gold medallist Misty May-Treanor was in attendance. She is married to Dodgers C Matt Treanor. ... Kemp is batting .462 (24 for 52) with three homers and 12 RBIs since July 28. ... Former Marlins infielder Hanley Ramirez continued to receive boos before each at-bat. Ramirez went 1 for 4. ... Dodgers 3B Jerry Hairston Jr. left the game in the sixth inning with left hip tightness. ... Marlins INF Greg Dobbs was a late scratch from the lineup with a tight left oblique and is day to day. ... Miamis Emilio Bonifacio (left thumb) is expected to begin a rehab assignment next week with Class-A Jupiter and is eligible to come off the disabled list on Aug. 19 when the team plays at Colorado. ... Dodgers LHP Chris Capuano (10-8, 3.29 ERA) will face Marlins LHP Wade LeBlanc (1-1, 1.50 ERA) in the series finale on Sunday. The 86.7 per cent success ratio tied Palardys single-season club record. . There is no timetable for Tulowitzkis return, but he is likely to be sidelined for about two months. Tulowitzki was placed on the disabled list on May 31. He is hitting .287 this year with eight home runs and 27 RBI. Kuptsovs second goal of the game with eight seconds left led the St. Michaels Majors to a 4-3 win over the Barrie Colts. Although his times were not released, it is likely that the disqualification allowed Cochrane, of Victoria, to qualify for his first 400m freestyle Olympic final. . Fabregas set up Jordi Albas opener before Cristian Tello and Messi both followed suit as Barcelona roared to 3-0 just 18 minutes in at Riazor Stadium. But some dubious officiating saw Javier Mascherano sent off in the 49th, and the visitors needed Messis 15th overall goal in a superb individual effort 13 minutes from time to stay unbeaten and secure the victory over a resilient Deportivo side. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Darrelle Revis is a step closer to getting back on the field for the New York Jets. The star cornerback, who suffered what the team called a "mild concussion" in last Sundays victory over the Buffalo Bills, was cleared Wednesday to resume physical activity -- running and lifting weights -- but hes still not allowed to participate in contact drills. "As the week goes on, we hope he can progress further and do more things," coach Rex Ryan said. "But obviously, we will follow NFL protocol and lean on the trainers and doctors." Revis did not practice Wednesday, but its an encouraging sign that the All-Pro cornerback is resuming normal activities. Revis must be cleared by the team physician and an independent neurological consultant, per NFL protocol, to practice and play at Pittsburgh on Sunday. The hope is that Revis will be able to practice on a limited basis Thursday and then put in a full session Friday. Revis was injured when he dived to tackle C.J.&nnbsp;Spiller and was accidentally kicked in the head by teammate Bart Scott. If Revis cant play on Sunday against the Steelers, nickelback Kyle Wilson would start in his place. Each had an interception in the Jets 48-28 rout of the Bills. Wide receiver Jeremy Kerley also did not practice after waking up with a stiff lower back. "I asked him if he came down with the Pittsburgh flu," Ryan joked. "Ive seen it happen. Theyre a very physical football team." Kerley was selected as the AFC special teams player of the week after returning a punt 68 yards for a score. He also caught a 12-yard touchdown pass, becoming the first player since St. Louis Az-Zahir Hakim in 2000 to score on a catch and a punt return in a season opener. Kerley is expected to play Sunday, but Wilson would step in for him as the punt returner if he cant. Clyde Gates, signed off waivers from Miami last week, could be active and serve in Kerleys role as the slot receiver. ' ' '
