The Domino Kings Biography

The Domino Kings Biography

Missouri group the Domino Kings have built their career on a foundation of traditional-minded honky tonk and rockabilly. In addition to covering songs by heroes such as Faron Young, Merle Haggard, and Buck Owens, the group writes its own neo-traditionalist music. The Domino Kings consist of Springfield, MO, natives Steve Newman (guitar, vocals), Brian Capps (bass fiddle, vocals), and Les Gallier (drums). The members of the group were active in the Springfield and Tulsa music scenes for several years before coming together. The Domino Kings' first album, 1999's Lonesome Highway, was heavy on the rockabilly influence. Life & 20, their debut album for Slewfoot Records, came out in 2000 and featured a more classic country approach. The Back of Your Mind followed in 2002, finding the group once again teaming up with producer Lou Whitney (the Skeletons). The Whitney/Domino Kings relationship continued with 2005's Some Kind of Sign, the group's first release on the rootsy Hightone label.
