Gary Burr Biography

Gary Burr, born in Meriden, Connecticut, is an American musician and songwriter, mostly known for his stable of hits recorded by Country music performers. Burr began his career as a member of the group Pure Prairie League from 1982-85, taking over after Vince Gill's departure from the group. Burr later moved to Nashville to become one of the most-respected songwriters there, penning hits for a plethora of Country artists (and a few Pop & Rock artists) and also works as a producer.  For example, Burr gave a then-unknown Faith Hill her first professional job as a backup singer in his band and became her co-producer for a time.  Burr has also been named Songwriter Of The Year by a number of groups such as ASCAP, Billboard & NSAI.  In early 2007, he appeared live on the cable TV network VH1 Classic with the rock duo Shaw Blades as a backing member, performing songs from their album "Influences".  Burr tours with Carole King as her guitar player in her 'Living Room Tour,' playing in the USA, Australia, and Japan, among other places.
