Demolition String Band Biography

Elena Skye founded The Demolition String Band with musical partner Boo Reiners in the early 90's. John Abbey plays the bass fiddle with Phil Cimino plays the snare drum. Their first gig was headlining the popular "Folk and Fondue" series at Maxwell's, at the invitation of host and friend Don Brody. Performing extensively in the New York/New Jersey area, they often appeared on WKCR-FM and were featured on Fox TV¹s "FX" show. The band has been a mainstay at the semi-annual Hoboken Music&Arts Festival. "One Dog Town" is produced by Greg Garing with Boo Reiners and John Siket. Skye and Reiners are featured performers at Greg Garing's Alphabet City Opry which has received attention from publications such as Billboard, The New York Times, The Daily News, New York Magazine and The New York TImes Sunday Magazine.mGaring's first outing as a producer, with John Siket engineering (Soul Asylum, Lemonheads, Dave Matthews Band, Phish), captured heartfelt performances by an eclectic cast of gifted musicians. "One Dog Town," transports one to a spot where a honk-a-billy swagger, good bluegrass raisin' and some rock&roll battle scars nudge, bump, grind and sometimes crash into each other on an oily dirt lot at a county fairgrounds. Skye writes almost exclusively with longtime partner Caren Belle .The songs are products of relaxed yet focused sessions in Skye's Hoboken kitchen.
